JOHN, B.C. — In response to a presentation from Ecole Central School’s PAC leader, Sarah Parsons, last week, the School District 60 board of trustees has opted to send a thank you letter to Parsons on behalf of the 101 letters they received. The letters addressed the school’s aging building, and the need for a new building for students and staff to not just board trustees, but the Ministry of Education and respective officials. In the Jan. 25 regular meeting, Parsons said the school had numerous ailments that made it ineligible for upgrades — and, while plans for a new building are consistently on the forefront of the school district’s capital budget, the wait for that new building leaves staff and students in limbo.- Advertisement -“It stands to reason, it would not be number one if the condition of the school didn’t warrant it,” she said during her presentation. The board thanked Parsons for her presentation, and they briefly discussed the method of which they should address a thank you to the concerned parents who wrote letters. Parsons said the board could send one to her to account for responses to all the letters, and though each of the letters will be read by the board, trustees ultimately decided this was the best path of action today.Board Chair Ida Campbell said they will also make sure Peace River North MLA Pat Pimm, as well as Minister of Education Mike Bernier, know that the board has received the letter from the PAC.Advertisementlast_img
