first_imgDr Kamal HossainAlleging that the government has gone ‘crazy’, Jatiya Oikya Front convener Kamal Hossain on Thursday said it is turning a civilised country into a ‘jungle’, reports UNB.He made the allegations while addressing a discussion organised by ‘Jatiya Ainjibi Oikya Front’ at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium as the chief guest.Criticising the arrest of Mainul Hosein in a defamation case, Kamal, also Gano Forum president, said it has manifested the government’s absolute ‘autocracy’. “This is not democracy. The constitution never gives such power which enables someone to do whatever he/she wants,” he said.Taking a swipe at law minister Anisul Huq, he sought explanation from him why Mainul Hosein was sent to jail in a bailable case. “You must explain it to people as you claim there’s democracy. You (Anis) also have the responsibility.”On 22 October, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the former caretaker government adviser in front of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rob’s Uttara residence in a defamation case filed in Rangpur.last_img
